Planning Permission:

How it works from start to finish.....

Stage One

Once you have decided to start your project, DHP Plans will arrange a convenient time to come to your property to discuss your ideas, maybe add a few and generally take a look. This service is free of charge. You will then be sent a written quotation, outlining all the charges including the fees payable to the relevant planning department.

Stage Two

On accepting the quotation, terms and conditions will be sent to you for you to sign and return and a time arranged for the site survey, where the existing property is measured up ready for the planning drawings. The drawings will show your existing property and the proposed extension/amendments. This survey takes approximately 3 hours for the average sized home. A site survey fee (first payment) is due at this point.

Stage Three

Plans will now be drawn up and once completed will be sent to you for your approval. The second payment is now due on delivery of these plans. If any changes need to be made at this stage, these will be discussed and the relevant changes are initially made free of charge. Re-draws and significant changes are charged at an hourly rate.

Stage Four

Once the drawings are to your satisfaction, the plans will be submitted to the Local Authority for planning approval. Planning approval usually takes 8 weeks. If you wish to make changes after they have been submitted, further fees will be charged at an hourly rate. If the Local Authority asks for changes, these are free of charge. DHP Plans will keep in touch with you during this 8 week period, to keep you updated as to progress.
